DMT : Ludhiana : (19 June 2023) : – The 48th Punjab State Sub Junior Basketball Finals (Boys and Girls) concluded at Kripal Sagar-Unity Of Man Kirpal Sagar Academy (Rahon) on Sunday late evening. Kuldip Singh Chahal Comm. Of Police Jalandhar distributed prizes to the winners of league matches. The Police Commissioner cajoled teenagers to work hard sports and studies both for success and a balanced life. He appreciated efforts of the organizers for impressive Basketball Tournament with display of strong display of message ‘ Beware Of Drugs Trap—Bacho Nashiyan De Chhalavie Ton’. Chahal spent ample time in the complex appreciating it’s serene beauty and sports enthusiasm in presence of Parminder Singh (PPS)Addl. DCP Jalandhar(An International Basketballer), Teja Singh Dhaliwal(Gen Sec PBA),Principal Gurjeet Singh, Captain Gurdev Singh (Admin), Atam Parkash Singh(PRO), Dr Jasvir Singh, Ashok Raina, Murlidharan, M K Aggarwal(All from Kirpal Sagar Academy),Brij Bhushan Goyal (PBA) and scores of residents and parents of players.
Teja Singh Dhaliwal while welcoming CP Jalandhar spoke of his illustrious achievements with message to children to make him their role model and said that CP’s visit will boost sports. He further informed that PBA has plans to popularize Basketball sports in this part of Doaba in Punjab effectively. He also advised players to learn from the hard work of players like Parminder Singh Heer (DCP). He thanked all the coaches of Punjab who worked hard to train their teams for this tournament which witnessed impressive matches also lauding services of Coaches Rajinder Singh Saloni, Ravinder Gill and Amarjot Singh, Basketball Coach and International referee of BFI present there. Brij Goyal gave pledge to players to never to fall in the drug trap earning kudos of the police commissioner. Atam Parkash Singh, Media PRO of academy in his impressive compering read out the message of Dr. Karamjit Singh, Chairman, Kirpal Sagar Academy that Sports effectively work towards Unity Of Man and Harmony in the society. Boys — Ludhiana Basketball Academy scores better from Mohali Team(47-44) to be placed at Ist and 2nd position in the concluding interesting match. Bathinda District Team beat Jalandhar Distt Team (46-34) to earn 3rd and 4th position respectively.
In other league matches earlier Mohali beat Bathinda (45-32), Ludhiana Academy beat Jalandhar (41-28), Ludhiana Academy beat Bathinda (59-44) and Mohali beat Jalandhar (41-15)
Girls — Ludhiana Academy girls were placed at First position while 2nd position for Jalandhar District. However Mohali and Ludhiana District’s teams earned 3rd and 4th positions respectively.
